I'm very sure you've at least once, wanted to signup on a platform, and you were given the option of signing up with your Google account, or your Facebook account. Have you ever wondered how to let your mobile app users sign up with their Tiktok account? You'll need the Login Kit API from TikTok and here's how to go about getting it.
Create a Tiktok Developer's Account
Head over to developers.tiktok.com and create a developer's account.
It is different from your normal TikTok user's account and requires you to have access to the developer tools.
Setting up your App
After creating your account, scroll down to the "Login Kit" section and click on "Get Started"
A pop-up will be displayed and you will be asked to integrate a new app. Type in your App name and upload the Logo.
Now click start and then fill in the rest details. Here are two things to note. The callback URL is the URL that TikTok uses after authenticating a user on your app. So you can just type in yourdomain.com/callback or /cllback; well, whatever you choose.
The redirect URL, (redirect domain in this case) you can also type in yourdomain.com/redirect or whatever unique URL you also choose.
In the Permissions section, check the use.info.basic option which gets the user's 'username' and login details from TikTok. If you want them to be able to share their TikTok videos from their TikTok profile to your app, then check the 'video.list' option and if you want them to be able to upload videos from your app to their tiktok profile, then check the 'video.upload' option. Finally, Tell Tiktok why you need the API in the "Reason for using" slot.
Now you're all set. Go ahead and submit the form. It usually takes a couple of hours to a few days before your submission is either approved or declined. Once approved, you will find the 'Client Key' and the 'Secret Key' at the App Info section at the top.
Goodluck and cheers to what you will be building with this.
